Race Book - Round 3 - Eagle MTB Park

Here is the rider and spectator information. It’s important you read all of the information here – it will answer almost any question you could possibly have. It is your responsibility to know the rules. 

As always, we rely on volunteer marshals to make these events a success, if you know somebody who would be interested please ask them to contact us. If anyone has friends or family with them who can marshal please encourage them to help.

Bicycle Fix Yakima Bike Rack Giveaway

We will be drawing the winner of the Yakima Bike Rack giveaway competition which has been running on our website. If you haven’t entered the draw yet, you can still enter until 6pm Friday 5th July. The Yakima Stick Up bike rack is valued at $319. You must be present to claim your prize.

Best Dressed

Stage 3 - Blue Gums - is our Fast & Furious stage this race. The King and Queen of the stage will each win a prize thanks to our major sponsor, Bicycle Fix.

Spirit of Enduro Award

Every event the organisers, marshals, sign on staff and riders witness or hear about outstanding acts of resilience, bravery, kind heartedness and fellowship in the race community. The “Spirit of Enduro Award” recognises these contributions to the community. If you witness the Spirit of Enduro in someone, be they a rider, volunteer, spectator or anyone else just fill in a form in the sign on tent to nominate them and each race we’ll pick a winner.

CFEA Challenge

Alice from CFEA will be running a small game after the race where you can challenge your mates to win Little Bang Beer or Leatt Gloves. You’ll find (or hear) Alice in the Race Village.


The Venue

The Race Village

The race village will be in the quarry bowl area. Enter Eagle MTB Park via the main gates at Pastor Kavell Lookout on Mt Barker Road. Gates open from 7.30am

Food & Beverages

Delicious food and drinks will be available in the race village.

Fancy Some Food will be serving Mexican style chicken burgers, hot pies, Paella, bacon & egg rolls, sweet potato & eggplant curry, soup and sausage in bread as well as chocolates and drinks. Please bring cash!

Kanso Co Caravan will be meeting our coffee, hot chocolate and chai latte needs as well as serving up burgers.

Rider Registration

Each rider must collect their timing chip and race plate (if applicable) from the rider registration tent.

If you have participated in a race this year, you will already have a race plate, make sure you bring it for this race. If you have lost your race plate, replacements are $10. Every rider must have a race plate to race.

Timing Chips

Please refer to the Rider Information graphic for information on the correct way to  mount your timing chip. Competitors accept a charge of $120 + GST to be made within 10 working days for any timing chip that is lost, damaged or not returned after the event.

Race Plates

Keep your race plate safe and remember to bring it to any future races you wish to participate in. If you lose your race, a replacement is $10. A 5 minute time penalty will apply if you cut or modify your race plate in anyway.

Equipment

Riders must wear a full-face helmet on race stages. Helmets with a detachable chin bar are acceptable. A helmet must be worn whenever you are riding your bike, including liaison stages. We recommend knee pads, gloves and long sleeves as well.

Self-Sufficiency

Riders must be self-sufficient including spares, food and water.

Other useful stuff: spare tube, pump/ CO2 canisters, multi tool, any other tools you think you might need.

Number of stages: 6 stages except for Elites who get 7!

Length: 15km - 20km

Racing time: 15 - 20 mins

Expected completion: 2 to 3 hours

Stage 2: Southside> Sunset Blvd > Overlocker

Stage 3: Blue Gums

Stage 4: Top Deck

Stage 5: 4X > Hills Hoist

Stage 6: The Mixer

Elites only must ride Stage 6 twice.

Stages can be ridden in any order.

If you are practising while wearing your chip, it is your responsibility to clear your chip at the timing desk before you start racing.

Safety

All riders are roving marshals, if you see a rider that has crashed and requires medical attention stay with them, wave down the next rider and get them to contact the marshal at the bottom of the track.  Both riders who have had their stage interrupted will be awarded a re-run.

Marshals at the bottom of each stage will be equipped with a first aid kit for minor injuries, this is for injuries that don’t require the assistance of our paramedic.  It is not an obligation for the marshal to administer first aid if required but may help if they choose.  If a higher level of care is needed the marshal will call for our first aid officer.


 Gravity Enduro SA reserves the right to modify or cancel the event. This includes cancellation of event due to extreme weather, acts of God, violence, civil disobedience and war.
If the event is cancelled we will not be liable for costs of travel fares, hotels, or any other expenses that may be incurred.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the race is going ahead before travelling. We will do our best to inform you if the race has to be cancelled but we do not accept liability if we are unable to contact you. We strongly advise that you check before making travel and accommodation arrangements.
If the event is cancelled we would endeavour to reschedule if possible. Please be aware that we may be unable to refund or part refund any entry fee. We are also unable to transfer your entry to another event.
